OVERVIEW

About Flexible & Multicore Cables

Flexible cables use fine-stranded copper conductors that bend repeatedly without cracking. That makes them the standard choice for panel wiring, machine looms, control circuits and building wiring. We supply flexible single-core wires and multicore cables from Polycab, KEI, LAPP and Bonton Cables in the sizes and coil or drum lengths a job needs.

Indian building and industrial flexibles are made to IS 694, which covers PVC-insulated cables up to 1100 V with class 5 flexible copper conductors. Fire performance is chosen by grade: FR (flame retardant), FR-LSH (flame retardant, low smoke and halogen), heat-resistant HR-FR-LSH rated to 85 °C, and halogen-free HFFR/LSZH cables to IS 17048 for hospitals, malls and high-rise buildings. For machine and control wiring, LAPP's ÖLFLEX CLASSIC 110 is a 300/500 V oil-resistant PVC multicore offered from 2 to 100 cores.

We size flexible cable for current, volt drop and grouping, then pick the fire grade to suit where it will run.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Flexible & Multicore Cables — FAQs

What is the difference between FR, FR-LSH and LSZH wires?

FR wire is flame retardant. FR-LSH adds low smoke and lower halogen emission. LSZH or HFFR cable is halogen-free, so it gives off far less corrosive gas in a fire, which is why it is specified for hospitals, malls and public buildings.

What does class 5 conductor mean?

It is the flexible conductor class in IS 8130 and IEC 60228: many fine copper strands rather than a few thick ones. This lets the cable bend repeatedly, which is needed in panels and on moving machinery.

Which size of flexible wire should I use?

It depends on load current, run length (for volt drop), the number of circuits grouped together and the ambient temperature. Share the load details and we will size the cable rather than guess from a chart.

Do you supply cable in Lucknow and across Uttar Pradesh?

Yes. We work from Varanasi and Lucknow, and we supply cable for projects across Uttar Pradesh and other states.
