OVERVIEW

About Busbar Support & MCB Channels

Busbar supports hold the copper or aluminium busbars of a panel in position, keep the phases at a safe distance from each other and from the enclosure, and resist the forces that try to bend the bars during a short circuit. MCB channels — 35 mm DIN rails — carry the MCBs, relays and other modular devices inside distribution boards and control panels.

Microtech supplies Procom busbar support systems moulded from fibre-reinforced SMC and DMC compounds, which the manufacturer describes as non-hygroscopic and self-extinguishing. The range covers conical and hexagonal stand-off insulators with threaded metal inserts, one-way to six-way finger supports, L-type and vertical supports, neutral links on DMC pads, and two-, three- and four-pole power terminals. Procom DIN rail channels are zinc-plated steel to EN 60715.

We size busbar supports for the bar section, spacing and fault level of each panel, and use the same supports in the LT panels we build in Varanasi and Lucknow.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Busbar Support & MCB Channels — FAQs

How do I choose the right busbar support?

Match the support to the busbar width and thickness, the number of bars per phase and the phase spacing, then check its strength against the panel's short-circuit rating. Share the busbar size, current rating and fault level and we will select the supports and spacing.

What is the difference between SMC and DMC supports?

Both are fibre-reinforced moulding compounds. In Procom's published data, SMC has higher tensile and flexural strength and slightly higher dielectric strength than DMC, and both are rated 960 °C in the glow-wire test.

Are your MCB channels standard DIN rail?

Yes. Procom channels are 35 mm wide and 7.5 mm deep to EN 60715, so they accept standard MCBs, RCCBs, relays and terminal blocks.
