Power Supplies
Regulated DC power supplies for reliable, stable power to panel-mounted control electronics.

About Power Supplies
A switch-mode power supply (SMPS) converts the AC mains into a regulated, low-voltage DC output — usually 24 V DC — to run the control side of a panel: PLCs, HMIs, sensors, relay coils and indicator lamps. It rectifies the input and switches it at high frequency through a compact transformer, which makes it far smaller and more efficient than an old linear transformer-rectifier supply.
Microtech supplies DIN-rail SMPS from Omron and Connectwell. The Omron S8VK-G range covers 15 W to 480 W at 24 V DC with a wide 85–264 V AC input, while Connectwell offers single-phase DIN-rail units from 60 W to 480 W, plus redundancy modules for panels where a single supply failure must not stop the process.
We size the supply for the steady load plus the inrush of relays, solenoids and capacitive loads, and leave headroom for future I/O. The same supplies are used in the control panels we build, so a spare taken from our stock is a direct swap.

Power Supplies — FAQs
How do I choose the right SMPS rating for my panel?
Add up the steady current of everything on the 24 V circuit — PLC, I/O, sensors, relay coils, lamps — then allow for start-up surges and leave spare capacity for future I/O rather than running the supply at its full rating.
What is a redundancy module and do I need one?
A redundancy module lets two power supplies feed the same DC bus, so if one fails the other carries the load without a break. It is worth fitting where a 24 V failure would stop a continuous process or a safety system.
Can an SMPS run from a DG set supply?
A wide-input SMPS such as the Omron S8VK-G accepts 85–264 V AC, which gives margin against the voltage swings common on generator supplies. We still recommend surge protection at the panel incomer.
