OVERVIEW

About Timers & Counters

Timers and counters handle the sequencing in a control panel: delaying a start, running a star-delta changeover, cycling a pump, or stopping a machine after a set number of pieces. We supply Selec digital timers and counters for panel fronts and Minilec electronic timers for DIN-rail mounting inside the enclosure.

Selec multifunction timers cover settings from 0.01 s to 999 h on models such as the XT546. Selec counters and timer-counter combinations count up or down, take NPN, PNP or potential-free contact inputs, and keep the count through a power cut on memory-retentive models. Minilec rail timers include on-delay, star-delta and multifunction types, including engine-start sequences.

We help you choose between a front-panel timer the operator can set and a rail timer that stays out of reach. We also match the supply voltage and contact rating to your circuit.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Timers & Counters — FAQs

Which timer do I need for a star-delta starter?

Use a dedicated star-delta timer, such as the Minilec S1 ESD1, or a multifunction timer with a star-delta mode. It times the motor's run in star, then switches to delta after a short changeover gap so the two contactors never close together.

Will a counter lose its count if the power fails?

Not on memory-retentive models. The Selec XTC5400, for example, retains its count through a power interruption. Tell us if retention matters for your process and we will pick a model that has it.

Panel-mount or DIN-rail timer — which is better?

Choose a panel-mount digital timer when the operator needs to see or change the setting. A DIN-rail timer suits fixed delays that should be set once at commissioning and left alone.

What sensors can drive a Selec counter?

Selec timer-counters such as the XTC5400 accept NPN or PNP proximity and photoelectric sensors, as well as potential-free contacts like limit switches.
